North West Frontier, Brits with Grit!

A few snaps of the Renadra Mud Hut and my Artizan 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot.

Constructing the building was a simple process though there were quite a few gaps that needed filling. For some reason I chose to fill them with Milliput, which came away in places due to the tool I was using having to be dipped in water rather a lot. I wouldn't let this put you off putting the model as it is really nice and the very subtle detail really doesn't come across viewing it on the net. It beats getting out the filler and mixing it with sand which always produces a rather unrealistic effect IMHO.

Anyway, here's the pics:

Bye for now

    1. OI will do Dan if I've still got them larger files- otherwise I'll set them up again, re take the snaps and send them through.

I assume that you want the files as large as possible? I could maybe leave them in Dropbox for you to pick up?

    2. Dropbox would be good and the bigger the better with the images - gives us more scope to use them. Cheers chap!

  2. Very nice work chief. I had been thinking about one, but there are some cheaper bits and piece available in 20mm.

I must confess, I am painting up some 20mm Newline Afghans at present and I've been stealing colour palette ideas from your blog.

  3. Excellent work, Darrell. The hut's perfect for service in Afghanistan or the North West Frontier. I like using Milliput a lot - even though its a bit of a nightmare to work with. Getting the right consistency and adding just enough water is tricky. But I love the way it dries rock hard for terrain and you can really sculpt and sand it. Lovely figures, by the way!

    1. Thanks Sidney, yeah, it can be funny stiff to work with. I've just been putting together some small rock pieces with the bark chippings that they well at hardware/gardening stores with a god 'round' of old Galeforce 9 (very off!) Greystuff. I've sculpted all the gaps by pressing in other pieces of the edges of bark where I have had to imitate the edges of the actual bark. It's a longer process than using Milliput but they're on 2mm Plasticard bases and I want them to have some give. Otherwise I would have used Millitput as my default filler- it would have been much easier! :>)
